I wrote music in the middle baroque years. My music was so original and inspirational that I was actually ahead of my time. Famous composers, such as J. S. Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel came to visit me and talk music with me. Bach even walked about 240 miles on his feet to see me.
My interest is in ensuring that my music and the music of other great composers does not get lost in the shuffle. I also was an organist, and the organ is a great and mighty instrument, even today. There is so much wonderful organ music that I truly feel sad for those churches that do not have an organ or an organist. They are missing out on some of the best music ever!
Bach wrote and improvised preludes and fugues. My preludes are a little different in that they are much shorter pieces and typically do not relate to the fugues to which they are attached.
My dad was a very fine organist as I was growing up. As an adult, I, too, became an organist at St. Mary’s, and my name as a composer spread through northern Germany.
Well, enough about me for now. Feel free to read my articles, and drop me a line if you have any messages for Bach. I’ll be having lunch with him later in the week! (He really likes chicken wings!) While you’re thinking about it, you might want to listen to Bach’s Little Fugue in G Minor. It’s one of his best loved organ compositions, and I’m sure you can find it on You Tube!
